How Our Cockatiels Are Raised
All of our cockatiels are raised in our home.
We usually start hand-feeding and handling them around 1–2 weeks old. From that point on, they’re being handled throughout the day by both adults and our kids. They’re around whatever is going on in the house—TV, conversations, people moving around, kids playing—so that kind of environment becomes normal to them.
As they get older, we start giving them more to explore. Different foods, toys, textures. The goal is to expose them to some variety early on so their new home with you doesn’t feel completely unfamiliar.
Every bird has its own personality. Some are more outgoing right away, others take a little time. That part is normal. Our focus is just to give them a solid start so you’re working with a bird that’s already had regular interaction and exposure to people.
